Study for your Canvas quiz with questions from your own notes
DeckOwl builds multiple-choice, true/false and short answer practice from the files you upload, with explanations for every answer. It works only from your material, so you learn the content before the quiz opens.
Why practice from your own notes works better
Most Canvas quizzes test whether you understood a unit, not whether you can recall a single screen. A canvas quiz is easier to pass when you have already worked through questions on the same material in a format that makes you explain why each answer is correct.
- Upload slides, PDFs, DOCX, PPTX, notes or photos of pages.
- Generate multiple-choice, true/false or short answer questions.
- Read a one-sentence explanation for every answer.
- Study in the browser on the free plan, with 3 generations per month.
From your files
Upload PDFs, DOCX, PPTX, plain text or photos of pages and get practice questions built from them.
Explanations for every answer
Each question comes with a short reason the correct choice is right, so you can see the logic rather than memorize a letter.
Spaced repetition
Flashcards from the same material return at expanding intervals, which helps the content stick before exam day.
How it works
Upload your material
Add the slides, readings or notes your instructor posted for the course.
Choose a question type
Pick multiple choice, true/false or short answer, and generate a set from your own content.
Practice until it sticks
Work through the questions, read the explanations for misses, and retry the ones you got wrong.
DeckOwl reads only what you upload. It does not connect to your Canvas course or pull answers from quiz pages, so the practice you get is built from your own notes and the explanations are there to teach the idea behind each answer.
Start with the lecture slides, then move to the readings. Retake the questions you missed a day later, since spacing the review tends to work better than cramming the night before.

Frequently asked questions
How should I study for a Canvas quiz?
Review the lecture notes first, then practice questions drawn from them, and focus on the topics you keep missing. Short sessions spread over several days usually stick better than one long session.
How many practice questions should I do before a timed quiz?
There is no fixed number, but working through a full set of questions on each unit, then retrying the misses, is a practical target. Track which topics still produce wrong answers and review those first.
Does DeckOwl connect to Canvas?
No. You upload your own files, and DeckOwl generates questions from them. It does not access your Canvas course or quiz pages.
Can I export practice questions?
Exports are part of the paid plans. The free plan lets you study in the browser with 3 generations per month, and Plus adds PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV export.
