What the Canvas due date controls and what DeckOwl does

Setting a canvas quiz due date happens inside Canvas, in the quiz's Assign To section, where an instructor or student-facing deadline is entered. DeckOwl does not change those dates, so the due date is best treated as the deadline for the quiz you still need to prepare.

  • Check the due, available from and until dates in Canvas before you plan your study time.
  • Generate questions from the chapters the quiz covers, not from the whole course.
  • Review explanations for wrong answers, then retry those questions a day or two later.
  • Export to PDF or DOCX on Plus, or to QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML on Pro, if you need a file outside DeckOwl.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I change a due date for a Canvas quiz?

Open the quiz, select Edit, and update the dates in the Assign To section, then save. Students see the new date on their To Do list and Calendar once it is saved.

What is the difference between Due and Until on a Canvas quiz?

Due is the deadline you expect students to meet. Until is the point after which Canvas stops accepting submissions, so set it later than the due date if you want to allow late work.

Can DeckOwl set due dates in Canvas?

No. DeckOwl creates quiz questions from your own PDFs, slides or notes, and QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML export are available on the Pro plan.

How should I study a quiz before its due date?

Work through the questions and read every explanation first, then retake the ones you missed a day later. Spreading review across several short sessions works better than one long cram.
