How an MCAT practice quiz works when it comes from your notes

Students who want an MCAT practice questions game usually want rounds that feel quick and fun but still test real content. DeckOwl does not include a ready-made MCAT question bank or a live multiplayer mode. Instead, it turns your own study material into quizzes you can work through in the browser, one question at a time.

  • Questions drawn from the notes you upload, not a generic bank
  • An explanation for every answer choice
  • Free plan: 3 generations per month, with study in the browser
  • Paid plans add exports: PDF, DOCX and Anki on Plus, QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML on Pro
Example MCAT practice questions with answers
In the citric acid cycle, which molecule is regenerated at the end of each turn?Oxaloacetate. It combines with the next acetyl-CoA to start the following turn, so it is recycled rather than consumed.
Which amino acid side chain is positively charged at physiological pH?Lysine. Its amine side chain has a pKa near 10.5, so it is protonated at pH 7.4.
For a competitive inhibitor, does increasing substrate concentration change Vmax? No. Competitive inhibition raises the apparent Km but leaves Vmax unchanged, because enough substrate outcompetes the inhibitor.
If you double the length of a simple pendulum, by what factor does its period change? It increases by a factor of the square root of 2. The period is T = 2π√(L/g), so it scales with the square root of length.
Damage to which brain structure most impairs forming new explicit (declarative) memories? The hippocampus. It supports consolidation of explicit memories, so damage prevents new ones from being stored normally.

Multiple-choice, true/false and short answer

Every question comes with an explanation of the correct answer and why the distractors fail.

Built from your own material

Upload PDFs, slides, DOCX files, plain text notes or photos of pages, and the questions follow what you actually studied.

Flashcards and mind maps too

Spaced repetition flashcards and mind maps cover the same notes, so you can switch formats when a topic stops sticking.

How it works

Upload your notes

Add MCAT review notes, lecture slides or a PDF chapter you own.

Choose a question type

Pick multiple-choice, true/false or short-answer questions for the section you are drilling.

Play through and retry

Answer, read the explanation, then retry the questions you missed until you can explain each one.

The gain comes from the explanations and from retrying what you missed. Build a set from a biochemistry chapter, answer it, then rerun only the wrong items. Over several sessions the weak spots shrink, and the sets stay tied to the sources you are being tested on.

Frequently asked questions

How many practice questions should I do in one MCAT study session?

Short, focused blocks work better than long unstructured sessions. Review every explanation, including the ones you got right, and rerun the misses before moving on.

What topics do MCAT practice questions usually cover?

The MCAT covers biology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, psychology and sociology, plus critical analysis of passages. Build separate sets by section so weak areas get more attention.

Can I export MCAT questions to Anki or a PDF?

Exports are paid features: PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV are on Plus, and QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML are on Pro. The free plan gives 3 generations per month with study in the browser only.

Is there a free way to try it?

Yes, the free plan needs no credit card to start. Students can get 40% off a paid plan with a school email.
