Create Moodle-ready quiz questions from your own notes
DeckOwl writes multiple-choice, true/false and open questions with explanations from your PDFs, slides or notes, then exports Moodle XML you can import. It does not replace Moodle's built-in quiz reports.
What a Moodle quiz report plugin does and what DeckOwl does
DeckOwl is not a Moodle quiz report plugin, and it does not run inside your Moodle site. It is an AI quiz generator that reads your PDFs, slides or notes and writes questions with explanations.
- DeckOwl creates questions; Moodle quiz reports analyse attempts that have already happened.
- Moodle XML export is a Pro feature, and imports go through your Moodle question bank.
- The free plan includes 5 generations a week and studying in the browser, without exports.
- Always review generated questions against your course material before using them with students.
Questions from your material
Upload a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain text notes or a photo of a page and get multiple-choice, true/false or open questions with explanations.
Moodle XML export
Pro includes Moodle XML export, so you can import generated questions into a Moodle question bank for a course quiz.
Review before you import
Read every generated question and explanation in the browser and correct anything that does not match your course before exporting.
How it works
Upload your course material
Add a PDF, slide deck, document or set of notes for the topic your quiz covers.
Choose question types and review
Pick multiple-choice, true/false or open questions, then check each answer and explanation.
Export and import into Moodle
On Pro, export Moodle XML and import it through the Moodle question bank.
Where it fits: a teacher or student who needs questions for a Moodle quiz can generate them from course material, review them, then export Moodle XML. Moodle XML export is included in the Pro plan at $14.99/month.
For analysing results after students sit a quiz, Moodle's built-in Statistics and Responses reports, or a report plugin your Moodle administrator has installed, are the right tools. DeckOwl does not read Moodle gradebook or attempt data.

Frequently asked questions
What does the Moodle quiz statistics report show?
It shows per-question data such as the facility index and discrimination index, along with the overall score distribution. These figures are calculated from all student attempts on the quiz.
How do I tell if a quiz question is too easy or too hard?
Check its facility index, which is the share of students who answered it correctly. Values close to 1 mean the question is very easy, and values close to 0 mean it is very hard.
Does DeckOwl work as a Moodle plugin?
No. It runs in the browser and exports Moodle XML, which you import into your course question bank.
Is Moodle XML export free?
No. Moodle XML export is part of the Pro plan at $14.99/month, while the free plan allows studying in the browser with 5 generations a week.
