Turn your notes into a Google Forms quiz with answers
Turn on quiz mode, set a correct answer for each question, and skip writing every question by hand.
Why the answer key is the hard part
If you need to know how to make a Google Forms quiz with answers, the form itself takes a few minutes. The slow part is writing questions that test the right material and deciding which option is actually correct.
- Turn on quiz mode in Settings so answer keys and points appear.
- Set one correct answer per question, then add point values.
- Write answer feedback that explains why an option is right or wrong.
- Choose when respondents see their grades, such as after you review open answers.
Questions from your material
Upload a PDF, slides, DOCX or plain notes and get multiple-choice, true/false or open questions built from what you actually studied.
Answers with explanations
Each question comes with a correct answer and a short explanation, so you know why the answer key says what it does before you publish it.
Exports when you need them
Plus exports to PDF and DOCX, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML for course platforms. Study in the browser on the free plan.
How it works
Upload your notes
Add a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, text file or photo of a page. Text recognition reads the photos.
Pick the question types
Choose multiple-choice, true/false or open questions, then generate a set with answers and explanations.
Add the answers to Google Forms
In Google Forms, turn on quiz mode under Settings, then enter each correct answer in the answer key for its question.
Google Forms can grade multiple-choice and checkbox questions against an answer key you set, and short answer questions can be graded if you enter accepted answers. Open-ended responses still need your own review.
Generating the questions from your own notes first gives you a draft with explanations, which you can check against the source before you enter it into the form.

Frequently asked questions
How do I add a correct answer in a Google Forms quiz?
Turn on quiz mode in Settings, then click Answer key under each question and choose the correct option. Google Forms grades responses against that key.
Should I grade short answer questions automatically?
Only if you can list the accepted answers in the key. Open wording with several valid responses usually needs manual grading, so plan time for it.
Can DeckOwl send quizzes straight into Google Forms?
No. DeckOwl creates the questions and answers for you to review. Plus exports to PDF and DOCX, and you can enter the questions into your form from there.
Which export formats are included in each plan?
Free covers browser study only. Plus at $99.90/year or $9.99/month adds PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV export. Pro at $14.99/month adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML.
