Where Moodle quiz results live

If you teach with Moodle, the fastest route to moodle view quiz results is the Results menu on the quiz page, which opens the Overview, Responses and Statistics reports.

  • Overview: scores per attempt and per student, with a download option in the report.
  • Responses: the exact answer chosen for each question in each attempt.
  • Statistics: difficulty and discrimination figures that show weak questions.
  • Manual grading: essay or short answer items that need a teacher to mark them.
Example Moodle quiz report questions and answers
Which Moodle quiz report shows the exact option each student selected for every question? The Responses report. It lists each attempt's chosen answer for every question, which helps you spot patterns that a total score hides.
Which report gives facility and discrimination figures for each quiz question? The Statistics report. It analyzes completed attempts, so you can see whether a question is too easy or fails to separate strong and weak students.
Where do you mark essay or short answer responses that Moodle cannot auto-grade?In the Manual grading report under the quiz Results menu. It lists attempts that still need a teacher to assign marks.
What does a negative discrimination index on a question usually indicate?Weaker students are scoring higher on it than stronger students, which often points to an unclear question or an incorrect marked answer.
Which quiz setting controls what students see after they submit, and when? The review options. They decide whether students see their responses, scores or correct answers immediately, later, or not at all.

Question-level answers

Start from your own PDF, slides or notes and get multiple-choice, true/false or open questions, each with an explanation students can read after answering.

Moodle XML export

On Pro, export the questions as Moodle XML so you can import them into your course question bank instead of typing them in one at a time.

Study in the browser first

The free plan includes 3 generations per month and browser study, so you can check question quality before you decide to export.

How it works

Upload your material

Add a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain text notes or a photo of a page. Text recognition reads images.

Pick the question type

Choose multiple choice, true/false or short answer, then generate a set from the parts of the material you want to test.

Review, then export

Check each explanation, then export to Moodle XML on Pro or study the set in your browser on the free plan.

Overview lists attempts and grades per student, Responses shows which option each student picked for every question, and Statistics gives item analysis for each question after enough attempts are finished.

DeckOwl does not connect to your Moodle site or read those reports. It helps you write new quiz questions from your own material, and Pro exports them as Moodle XML or QTI 2.1 for import.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Statistics report show in a Moodle quiz?

It shows item analysis for each question, including how many students got it right and how well it separates strong and weak students. Use it to find questions that are too easy, too hard or unclear.

Why would a question have a low discrimination value?

Strong students are not answering it more correctly than weaker students, which often means the wording is confusing or the marked answer is wrong. Review the question and its options before reusing it.

Does DeckOwl show my Moodle quiz results?

No. DeckOwl creates quiz questions from your uploaded material and does not read grades or reports from Moodle. Exporting to Moodle XML requires the Pro plan at $14.99/month.

Is there a free way to try it?

Yes. The free plan includes 3 generations per month and browser study, with no credit card needed to start. Exports are paid features, and students get 40% off with a school email.
